When you enter the challenge, all your items will scale to 50 item level. So what else do you need to make it happen? Proper gear with as much BiS stats as possible is incredibly important as well because this time around you can't simply outgear Mage Tower Challenge with high item levels like it was back in Legion expansion. Lets study some of the challenges separately. But don't you think it will make things a lot easier, as the bosses will still make you lots of trouble. Also, you should use the best enchants, flasks and potions to gain some additional power and beat "that bastard" :) Mind that this time with Mage Tower Timewalking all your attempts are free of charge, you don't need to farm those nether shards at least. The most important and the key factor here is the gear of your character and the right talent build, which increase your chances to win against the boss dramatically.
You will need to make a lot of effort and take tons of attempts to pass Mage Tower Challenge. Some challenges also seem to be unbalanced and overtuned, which is actually true. It will require all your skills and abilities to control your toon if you wish to complete it. First and foremost, the challenges are immensely difficult. In fact there are 7 different challenges, separately for heals, tanks and some groups of casters. Solo challenge for each class does not mean there will be separate boss and challenge for every class.
